Danville Dan Catcher Honored!

Posted by collegesummerball on April 13, 2007

Kiel Roling (Arizona State) had quite a week. His 6-15 weekend helped the Sun Devils sweep the Stanford Cardinal. His outstanding offensive weekend lead him to be named the Pac-10 Player of the Week.

Kiel will be playing his 2007 summer ball for the Danville Dans of the Central Illinois Collegiate League.

For all you UT fans out there, you should bookmark this blog by Joanna. She runs Joanna’s Longhorn Baseball Page. It is extremely concise and well written. She covers the Longhorns from top to bottom. For you prospect hunters and fans of the draft, just about every Longhorn starter has serious draft potential. We should see them in Omaha in a little while.

History to be made in Kitsap!

Posted by collegesummerball on April 13, 2007

This summer, Kyle Howe of the University of Nevada at Reno will do something that a lot of summer leaguers won’t ever be able to do. If you guessed suiting up for the same summer league team for three consecutive years, you got it right. Howe will be making his third trip to Kitsap of the WCCBL.

Forsythe Returning to Colleyville!

Posted by collegesummerball on April 13, 2007

Arkansas infielder, Logan Forsythe will return for his second season with the Colleyville Lonestars of the Texas Collegiate League. Logan is off to a sizzling start for the Razorbacks this season. He is hitting .351 with 5 homers and 29 RBI’s.

You can view the full Lonestars roster here, but they neglected to include the players school on the roster. This makes viewing the roster pretty meaningless if you ask me.

Gulls Complete Roster!

Posted by collegesummerball on April 13, 2007

The Newport Gulls of the NECBL have completed their 2007 summer roster. It is nice to see a couple local players on the roster. Hunt Woodruff and Will Skelton both are on the TCU baseball team. I am sure that they will thoroughly enjoy playing in Newport.

Oklahoma City University is a powerhouse in the NAIA ranks. OCU is always a contender for the NAIA National Championship. They won the NAIA National Championship in 2005. OCU also had 3 players drafted by pro teams in 2005. Patrick Norris and Bobby Spain are two of the OCU players that are having great seasons.

Patrick Norris is a junior outfielder from Pensacola, FL. Patrick was drafted by the Padres in the 39th Rd of the 2005 MLB draft. He was also an outstanding player at Butler Community College. Patrick is currently sporting a hefty .405 batting average with 30 hits. Patrick is also 16-19 in stolen bases this season.

Bobby Spain is a junior infielder from Norman, Ok. Bobby was also drafted by the Padres in the 39th round of the 2004 MLB draft. Currently, Bobby is batting a hefty .430 with 14 homers and 55 RBI’s.

Both of these players will be playing for the Harrisonburg Turks of the Valley league. In fact, 5 Oklahoma City University players will be playing for the Turks this season.

The Leesburg Lightning of the Florida Collegiate League will have two players from The Citadel on their 07 summer team. Freshman Raymond Copenhaver and Matt Simonelli (who are both from Florida) will hope to lead the Lightning to the Florida Collegiate League Title. Copenhaver (P), is currently 1-1 with a 2.61 ERA. Simonelli is struggling a little bit at the plate. Matt is currently batting .174, but is getting some very valuable playing time.
