Two Wolverines will play for Mankato!

Posted by collegesummerball on April 16, 2007

Even though I am a Texan, most of my family lives in Michigan. I am a huge Wolverine fan. I am very pleased that the Mankato Moondogs of the Northwoods league have just signed two Wolverines to play for them this summer.

Sophomore Jason Christian and Freshman Alan Oaks will help to lead the Moondogs to the Northwoods League Championship.

Christian (SS) is having a year to remember in 07. He is batting .317 with 2 homers and 18 RBI’s. He also has an outstanding slugging percentage of .569.

Oaks has seen action in 15 games so far this season. He has a homer and 6 RBI’s. He looks to have a great summer, which should boost him into the starting lineup next season.

Posted by collegesummerball on April 16, 2007

The University of Arizona’s Preston Guilmet is certainly making the most of his sophomore season. Preston garnered his second Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week award today from The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Preston has gone 9 innings in each of his last 4 starts, and he struck out 15 batters in his last game.

On the season, Preston is 7-0 with a 1.58 ERA. Preston will play his summer ball for the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod League.

Another Forsythe Post!

Posted by collegesummerball on April 16, 2007

I realize that I just posted about Logan Forsythe (Arkansas) a couple of days ago, but he went and had himself another career day yesterday. He lead the way with four hits and a career high six RBI’s which helped to seal a victory over the Florida Gators.

Logan will be playing his 2007 summer ball for the Colleyville Lonestars of the Texas Collegiate League. I am sure that he will be one of the top prospects in the league this summer. I certainly can’t wait to see him play.

Former Gatmen and Outlaw having a fine Junior year!

Posted by collegesummerball on April 16, 2007

Nick Cassavechia (Baylor) is one of the best relievers in the Big Twelve this season. Nick is currently 3-1 with a 1.95 ERA. He has seven saves on the year as well. I think that this next stat is one of his most impressive. Nick has pitched in 27.2 innings pitched and has only given up 20 hits.

Nick played his 2005 summer ball for the Denton Outlaws of the Texas Collegiate League and played for the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod League in 2006.

Former Outlaw Cory Kluber!

Posted by collegesummerball on April 16, 2007

Corey Kluber (Stetson) was a player on the 2005 Denton Outlaws (TCL). I have to admit that I kind of lost track of Corey after 2005.

You can read a neat article about Corey here.

(I have to admit that even though it was the Outlaws inaugural season in 2005, it was not a pleasant experience for me because the Outlaws played in one of the worst ballparks I have ever seen. I know from talking to several of the players, that they hated playing there as well. On a wonderful side note, I am ecstatic that the Outlaws will be in a new park this season.)

Justing Berg and Greg Reinhard have made the trek from playing for the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the Northwoods league to playing for the Tennessee Smokies. Tennessee is the AA club for the Chicago Cubs.

Justin has seen action in two games for the Smokies, while Greg has found himself in three games this season.

Justin helped lead the Woodchucks to the Northwoods League Championship in 2003.
