For the last three years, the roster for the Chatham A’s had a familiar name on it. Robert Woodard’s name on the roster was just something to be expected in Chatham. This summer will be different. Now a senior, Robert will have his sights set on the big leagues.
Robert had a good year for the A’s last summer. He went 3-3 with a 2.32 ERA. This year for the Tar Heels, Robert is pitching lights out. He is 7-1 with a 2.05 ERA in 66 innings. This outstanding year should propel Robert into being drafted early.

The St. Cloud River Bats of the Northwoods League roster is starting to fall into place. By my count this morning, there are going to be at least five players that hail from California on the Roster. One player that draws my attention is Jeff Kobernus from Cal.
Jeff is a freshman who can play either in the infield or outfield. He is from San Leandro, CA. He had an outstanding high school career at Bishop O’Dowd High. Currently, Jeff is hitting a very respectable .336 on the season. He also has stolen 12 bases for the Golden Bears.
I am sure that fans of the River Bats can’t wait to see Jeff play.

I want to highlight a few players from the list. These are guys that I think either are prospects to watch for, or ones that I feel will definitely produce for the the Robins this summer.
David Wendt is a sophomore catcher from Dowling College in NY. David was a three sport star in high school at Methuen, MA High School. David is currently batting .298 with 4 homers and 25 Runs batted in for the Golden Lions.
Mike Adams is a sophomore pitcher from Franklin Pierce. Mike hails from Orchard Park, NY. Mike is 3-0 with a 1.41 ERA on the season. He has pitched in 44 innings, while only giving up 38 hits and striking out 40 batters.
Stamford opens their summer season on June 6.

The Bend Elks of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League have several intriguing “prospects” on their team. I am interested in seeing how one of them plays this summer. Tyler Lyons is a freshman pitcher for the Cowboys. The 6-1, left-hander hails from Lubbock, TX. Tyler has already seen action late in games and against conference foes this season. Tyler is currently sporting a 1.29 ERA on the season. He has made 13 appearances and has picked up one save this year.
Look for Tyler to have a good summer for the Elks.
