Rain-Rain Go Away!

Posted by collegesummerball on June 17, 2007

My son and I were really looking forward to watching an Outlaws game last night. With the baby being born this past Monday, we haven’t had the chance to go in a while, so we were really looking forward to last night. Alas, the rains came. Every game in the TCL was cancelled.

On the Autograph Front!

Posted by collegesummerball on June 14, 2007

My son and I were fortunate to receive two autographs in the mail from Atlanta Braves prospect, Kristopher Medlen. Kristopher played his college ball at Santa Ana College, and he played summer ball in the Alaskan League.

Baby Update………

Posted by collegesummerball on June 12, 2007

Riley Elizabeth was born at 8:16 yesterday morning in Denton, TX. She weighed in at 8 pounds, and was 20 inches long. She looks like her mother (which is a good thing).
Mother and baby are fine. The doctors have already sent us home. I will have pictures of her posted as soon as I can download them.

Will Be Away For A Couple Of Days!

Posted by collegesummerball on June 10, 2007

I will be away from the computer for the next couple of days. There will be a new addition to the Summer Ball family when my daughter will be born tomorrow. She wasn’t due to arrive until later in June, but due to some health reasons with Momma, she will make her appearance tomorrow. I will get back to posting as soon as I can.
P.S. For those that know me, Yes, she will be a Red Sox fan like her Dad!

The first game of the season in the Florida Collegiate League took place yesterday with the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs defeating the Leesburg Lightning 8-7.

The Summer Ball “Player of the Game” is Tim Russell (U of Central Florida). Russell went 3 for 5, scored twice and drove in 1 for the Diamond Dawgs.

Southern Collegiate League "Players of The Game!"

Posted by collegesummerball on June 5, 2007

This is kind of an open letter to the SCBL. I really want to name my Players of the Game, but I don’t have any game recaps or box scores. If anyone can send me either the box score or recaps I will get to work on my “Players of the Game.”

Just A Quick Note About The Blog!

Posted by collegesummerball on June 4, 2007

I have had 2 emails sent to me recently wanting to know why I have seemingly stopped talking about the TCL and Great Lakes League (but this includes all other leagues as well). With the summer ball season underway, I am trying to shift my focus on the leagues that are playing. When the leagues in question get started, I will talk blog more about them. Also, just a precautionary word for those outside the realms of the Texas Collegiate League, I live in the North Texas area, so if I seem to blog a little more about the TCL, it’s not because I don’t like your team or league, it’s just that the TCL is my “hometown” league.

Madison Mallards Captain Relishes His Role!

Posted by collegesummerball on June 2, 2007

I was emailed this great article about Jordan Comadena as written by Todd D. Milewski of the Capital Times in Madison. Jordan is the current captain for the Madison Mallards.

Jordan Comadena says he’s the kind of guy that goes to the ballpark every day to play, no matter the position.

Little wonder, then, that he is one of the most versatile players on the Madison Mallards roster.
