Big Night For Jay Jackson and the Delaware Cows!
Posted by collegesummerball on June 18, 2007
I am going out on a limb here, but based on his game last night, I think that Jay Jackson (Furman) has staked his claim on being named the Great Lakes League Player of the Week. Jackson, a pitcher/outfielder out of Taylors, SC, threw a 7 inning no-hitter versus the Xenia Athletes in Action last night. This was only Jay’s second pitching appearance of the season. Jay only allowed two batters to reach base last night. One on a walk and one on an error. Jackson’s no-hitter is the second no-hitter in franchise history, with the first being back in 1993 by Ohio State’s Scott Walker.

Posted by collegesummerball on June 18, 2007
Zach Umberger (Towson) was hands down, the best pitcher of the day in the Cal Ripken Sr. League last night. The starter for the Youse’s Maryland Orioles went 6 innings to earn his first win of the season. Zach scattered 3 hits without giving up a run. He had no walks and struck out 4 as well.
