Big Night For Jay Jackson and the Delaware Cows!

Posted by collegesummerball on June 18, 2007

I am going out on a limb here, but based on his game last night, I think that Jay Jackson (Furman) has staked his claim on being named the Great Lakes League Player of the Week. Jackson, a pitcher/outfielder out of Taylors, SC, threw a 7 inning no-hitter versus the Xenia Athletes in Action last night. This was only Jay’s second pitching appearance of the season. Jay only allowed two batters to reach base last night. One on a walk and one on an error. Jackson’s no-hitter is the second no-hitter in franchise history, with the first being back in 1993 by Ohio State’s Scott Walker.

Prospect to Watch for in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League!

Posted by collegesummerball on June 18, 2007

For the players, one of the great things about playing summer ball is that it’s a great way to hone your skills against better all around competition, and to be noticed. Dan Gardo (Pitt) is certainly noticed now. The Kutztown Rockies pitcher is off to a sizzling start this summer. Dan is 3-0 with a 2.12 ERA. He has made 3 starts and has 2 complete games already. In 17 innings of work, Gardo has only walked 3 and struck out 11.

Prospect To Watch For in The Florida Collegiate League!

Posted by collegesummerball on June 17, 2007

Bo O’Dell is making quite a name for himself in the Florida Collegiate League this summer. The Florida State Seminole pitches for the Altamonte Springs Snappers. Bo is 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA on the season. He has given up 1 run on 6 hits in 12 innings pitched. Both his 2 wins and 12 innings pitched are tied for the league lead. Bo will have to improve on his 7 walks given up, but he also has 14 K’s so far.

Rain-Rain Go Away!

Posted by collegesummerball on June 17, 2007

My son and I were really looking forward to watching an Outlaws game last night. With the baby being born this past Monday, we haven’t had the chance to go in a while, so we were really looking forward to last night. Alas, the rains came. Every game in the TCL was cancelled.
